Abstract:

RIKEN, the Institute of Physical andChemical Research was founded in 1917 as an incorporated foundation. Sincethen, RIKEN has been involved in a wide range of research activities in thefields of physics, engineering,chemistry, biology and medical science as the only comprehensive researchinstitute for natural sciences in Japan.

RIKEN has played an active role forcollaborative projects between universities, corporations and funded researchprograms, as well as being the driving force behind disclosing technologicalfindings and knowledge to the industrial sector.

This film is an insightful documentarythat follows the development of RIKEN from its establishment through to 1985.
